The Kitchen & Dining Hall

Life is so active at Summer Camp Montana and busy and we feel that their nutrition is one of the most important facets of any stay. Each meal is given careful consideration, with excellent French-style food served with both International flavour, with a taste of being at a summer Camp in Switzerland in mind.

All meals are held in our spacious and panoramic dining hall. Incredible views are afforded over the Camp grounds and Swiss Alps; some of the best views in all of Crans-Montana, making each and every meal time one in a spectacular setting. Campers sit in their groups and are supervised at their table by their counsellor, who helps to ensure a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere to eat in.

Breakfast at International Summer Camp Montana is served as a continental, European style buffet with freshly baked breads, a selection of cereals, yoghurts, meats and cheeses. In addition, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, orange juice and water is provided. After all, a summer Camp for kids and teens needs to make sure that everyone starts the day with plenty of energy!
Lunch follows a traditional European style and consists of a hot main course dish and dessert, in addition to a beautiful selection of options at our salad bar. Each and every day, the selection of salad changes and provides Campers with a healthy and varied choice. Moreover, being an International Summer Camp in Switzerland, we also have a special selection of cheese to choose from – diary products being one of the main products of Switzerland.
Dinner at summer Camp Montana is a three-course meal, comprising of a starter, hot main dish with salad bar options, cheese and dessert. There are two special ‘themed’ dinners for all Campers to experience; ‘Sushi night’ and ‘Mexican night’ are both firm favourites at Camp for kids and teens alike.
Moreover, standout moments for our Senior Campers are the two Buffet dinners that they experience. The selection of foods on offer will whet your appetite and if you like desserts, then these are the meals for you! The range of choice certainly ranks up as one of the best summer Camps for teens when it comes to having a satisfied stomach!
For each excursion and hike outside of the summer Camp, Campers are provided with a packed lunch which consists of a sandwich, piece of fruit, drink and snack to give them energy and nutrition during the day. For the overnight hike experience, we have taken the additional step to provide Campers the opportunity to make their own sandwich, with fresh bread and a variety of meats and salads. Add that to our list of summer Camp activities!

When our Campers reach the overnight hut, they have a fantastic barbecue dinner, accompanied by salad and pasta prepared freshly for them each day. Moreover, they are able to try a local delicacy, ‘Raclette’, melted cheese served over bread or potatoes. This is certainly one of the greatest experiences of any stay at Camp and many of our Alumni have taken home fantastic memories of the food and time spent at Summer Camp Montana, Switzerland’s overnight program.

In addition to these meals, on two Sundays Campers experience one of their culinary highlights, the Sunday Brunch! To see what food selection is on offer at summer Camp for kids and teens at these Sunday brunches, have a look at our video. We think you'll soon see why International Summer Camp Montana is so popular with our guests!

Dietary requirements

Special diets for vegetarians with food allergies can be catered for upon request, but other special methods of preparation such as halal and kosher unfortunately are not available for Campers. Pork is never served as part of our main meals, but is available, clearly marked at buffets and brunches.

An emphasis on ‘the healthy’ and ‘local’ choices

A visit to Summer Camp in Switzerland is a chance to relax, try new sports and activities and to make many friendships. It can also be the opportunity to experience completely different tastes when it comes to the food eaten by kids and teens at summer Camp.

We try to balance the familiar favourites that children all love, with the healthy options that parents would like them to choose! No matter what products we choose to serve our guests at International Summer Camp Montana, we try to do this by choosing local or Swiss based suppliers and produce. Switzerland is renowned for the quality of its meats, fish, vegetables and diary produce and our Head Chef’s creations always have this in mind.
