Preparing for summer 2010

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

In January our head counselors for summer 2010 met at International Summer Camp Montana. Along with the camp directors they had several meetings to discuss the new and exciting changes and additions to the camp programme. They also discussed how the camp and the programme can develop with the changes in today’s youth.

This summer Danny Herberich will be the Pioneer Head Counselor. Danny works all year round at camp as our programme director and is in charge of staff recruitment. Almost every past and present camper and staff member will know Danny who will spend his 36 summer at ISCM.

Vanessa Mangold Fluri will rejoin us at camp as the Junior Head Counselor, a position that she also held in summer 2008. Vanessa has worked at camp in various positions for the last 10 summers; she took summer 2009 off from ISCM to become a first time parent and welcome her daughter Emma-Louise.

The senior section will have Scott Stewart as their new Head Counselor this summer. Scott is originally from Scotland and has worked at ISCM in various positions over the last 8 summers.

Our camp banker Thomas

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

All of our campers know Thomas as he is the one handing out the pocket money; he is a very popular specialist. Thomas is currently working with our camp administration to help with the preparations for this summer season. He has held many different positions at camp and has been our camp banker for the past 4 summers. This position requires precision and patience. He is also in charge of running errands and for driving campers to the doctors. When Thomas is not in the bank he can be found on the tennis court or Mountain biking.

During the winter Thomas is a ski and snowboard Instructor here in Crans-Montana.

Growing up in many different places meeting new people every 2 or 3 years makes it hard to find a place to call home, but for me ISCM was always there.

I am now happily married and living in Switzerland but enjoy every moment I get to spend at camp.

I started work at ISCM in 1996 and have been returning ever since. It’s a place where lasting friendships are made, campers and staff alike. I enjoy every year to see my friends and to see the campers grow and mature from the juniors to pioneers to seniors.

ISCM has been a big influence in my life and a source of many happy memories.

I hope that I have been a positive influence in the lives of our campers over the years and have helped to build the foundations for many happy summers to come at ISCM.

I hope that the campers love this place as much as I do,

See you all next summer!
