Time flies when you are having fun!

Welcome to the ISCM blog once again, and it’s good to be back!  Though we there have not been any posts on the blog for the past few weeks, we have not been sitting idle!  Camp is in full swing and this week signals the middle point in our summer season.

During the first session we welcomed just over 400 children from all over the World to Crans-Montana.  Whilst there were many returning campers, we were also delighted to welcome a large number of new campers too!  The weather was extremely kind to us and though there was some rain and storms, these were generally confined to the night time; this left us the days to be in the sunshine doing all the great activities.

The Junior section was a smaller section than in previous years, but this did not affect their enjoyment.  In fact, it meant that everyone got to know everyone else just a little better!  The Pioneer section also had a great 1st session here at La Moubra.  There were some exciting new activities for the Pioneers this summer such as making smores by the camp fire and a bedtime story every evening.  These were really appreciated!

The Champion section is new to camp this summer in its 50th year and it was by far the largest section during the first session, with just under 200 campers!  That’s a lot of hungry stomachs to feed in a single mealtime!  The Champions even had their own ‘Talent Show’ to show off their skills and flair to the rest of their section.  We definitely enjoyed seeing their acts!

And not to forget the the Senior section, who enjoyed a fantastic 1st session at ISCM also.  The weather allowed the Seniors to participate in all the different excursions with zest and vigour.  The views from the Plaine Morte glacier were unforgettable, the river rafting program was thrilling as always and most of all the discos were really appreciated!

That was the 1st session of the 2011 season, but of course there are still two further sessions in a summer season at camp!  We are already well into the 2nd session of camp and whilst the weather has not always been as warm as we are used to, the activities have still been as fun as ever!  Now that camp has such a wide range of indoor facilities, a full program is always able to operate.  However, the sun is not away for long here in Crans-Montana and we are all looking forward to the remaining weeks of the 2nd session and the fast approaching 3rd session.
