Keeping up appearances

Hello again one and all from the International Summer Camp Montana blog! The start of our first session is now just 2 months away and time is certainly travelling fast! Preparations have already begun for our first campers arriving at La Moubra and in this article we will introduce two groups of people who are going to be very busy in the coming weeks.
The first group are those staff who form the team of housekeepers at International Summer Camp Montana. There are a large number of ladies and gentlemen who are responsible for making sure that the inside of La Moubra, Residence Erica and the Junior Villa look spic and span every day! There is quite a variety of tasks that have to be undertaken such as cleaning floors throughout the house, making sure that litter bins in both rooms and halls are regularly emptied and that other public facilities throughout La Moubra are tended to. The Head of housekeeping at Camp is Maria Mendes.
In addition to the housekeeping staff, we have an excellent team of grounds and maintenance workers who maintain everything from lighting inside La Moubra to the garden areas outside! Head of maintenance is Hans Rigert, a native of the Valais and a man who has worked at International Summer Camp Montana for over 35 years! He is a friendly face that former staff and campers alike will recognise from their time at ISCM.

You only have to walk a few metres inside the gates of La Moubra on the arrival day to understand just how much work the grounds and maintenance staff do to make our camp look so beautiful. They ensure that every blade of grass is mown, flowers and plants are watered, paint is fresh, activity tents are built and every nail is hammered! No task is left undone in their preparations for the first day of camp. It is also worth remembering that a member of the maintenance team makes the journey up to our overnight hut each day to help maintain and bring fresh supplies and take away bedding to be laundered. Their reach is truly far and wide!

Many of the aspects that we take for granted in our stay at La Moubra are overseen by all of the housekeeping, grounds and maintenance staff each and every day. ISCM certainly would not look, feel or function the same were it not for the high quality of staff that work in these teams; not just in summer, but throughout the ‘off-season’ as well. We are very lucky and always thankful for all their efforts and are looking forward to seeing the fruits of all their labour in our celebratory 50th year!
