For the past 20 years at International Summer Camp Montana it has been tradition after the staff introduction to hold a balloon race. What is this I can hear you ask?! Each camper has their name attached to a small postcard, with the return address of International Summer Camp Montana. The postcards are then fixed to small helium filled balloons and let go at the end of the staff introduction. The balloons are then free to fly in the direction that mother nature intends! There are three winners of the race for each session of camp, to allow for different wind conditions on the. The winners are the campers whose balloon travels the furthest distance and have their cards returned to camp! The camper with the furthest travelled balloon for summer 2010 was Margaux Broux and her balloon flew 454km to Wangen in Allgäu, Germany!
