Fact # 9 – In which order were the various ‘sporting areas’ built at International Summer Camp Montana?

50 Facts - Summer Camp MontanaQ.

In 1962 the land around La Moubra was not very developed compared to the way it is now and it took a great deal of time and care to create the fantastic facilities we have today!  In fact, the land running down from La Moubra to Lac Moubra at that time was a large open meadow.

The ‘sporting areas’ such as the tennis 1 court, soccer pitch, swimming pool, basketball court, sports 1 field and riding ring were all built at different times over the past 50 years.

Do you know in which order the various ‘sporting areas’  were built?

We will reveal the answer to this week’s ‘Fascinating Fact’ in next week’s blog!

Last week’s fact – How long did it take before the two resorts of Crans and Montana united to become Crans-Montana?

A.

Crans and Montana were not united as one resort until just 2002!  As mentioned in the fascinating fact last week, Montana was founded in 1893 when the Hotel du Parc was built.  There was then an influx of tourists who came to this beautiful area to enjoy their holidays and in 1906 the CransGolf course was completed.  As more medical facilities and clinics were developed in Montana, the area around where Crans is today was becoming more renowned for tourism.  However, it should be noted that the whole resort was called Montana and it was not until 1930 that the resort of Crans was founded.

Therefore, in answer to the question of last week, it was a full 72 years before the two towns of Crans and Montana became what we now know as Crans-Montana.
