Last week’s fact - Which activities used to be part of the camp program, but are no longer used?
A.
Interestingly there are are three activities that spring to mind when thinking of pursuits that used to be on the camp program, which are no longer used today. Firstly, there was ice skating – yes, during the summer! This was hosted at the former ice rink in Crans-Montana (these days, a Casino) and the activity lasted for 2 hours, rather than the standard 50 minutes. The second activity to mention is rifle shooting, which was part of the original camp program and eventually was replaced due to the change in times and attitudes. Finally, the World famous ‘buggy ride’ should be mentioned in this category! Many former staff and campers will have fond memories of being taken on a short ride around the areas close to camp in a horse-drawn ‘buggy’, with an ice-cream stop being the highlight of the trip!
Q.
The large chalet that sits proudly beside our basketball court is home to our Junior campers during the summer season. In the past it has even hosted some Pioneer campers too! However, normally it is merely referred to as ‘The Villa’. Do you know why this is the case?

We will reveal the answer to this ‘Fascinating Fact’ in the next blog!
