Fact # 22 – How many different staff accommodations has ISCM used in the past?

50 Facts - Summer Camp MontanaLast week’s fact - Which were the furthest excursion destinations that were organised in camp’s history?

A.

There are a number of different cities in Switzerland visited as part of our excursion program.  However, in the early years of camp there were trips organised to places far away from Crans-Montana.

The two furthest excursion destinations were Paris (about 650km) and Venice (about 500km)!  These were three day excursions and were held at the end of summer camp.  Today, we would consider taking an airplane for a journey to these cities.  However, in these years, campers went by bus and train to these excursion destinations – that’s a long way to drive, but must have been great fun!

Of course camp did not have such a wide range of activities, facilities, excursions and programs as we do today.  There are lots of great activity options, cities to visit and evening entertainment right on our doorstep at ISCM.  Nowadays many of our campers already have visited many cities like Paris and Venice with their parents, due to advances in international travel.

Q.

Now that International Summer Camp Montana has Residence Erica, there are many of our staff living on camp grounds.  However, before Residence Erica was built the staff were spread all over Crans-Montana in chalets, apartments and hotels.
