The Alpine views that we are afforded in Crans-Montana are truly breathtaking. On a clear day it is possible to gaze upon countless snow-capped mountains; you be mistaken for believing that you were looking at the set of a movie scene! The terrace at ISCM is one of the best places to take sight of these views and one can see far and wide across the Valais. However, do you know how many mountain peaks over 4000m can be seen from the terrace at camp?
We will reveal the answer to this week’s ‘Fascinating Fact’ in next week’s blog!
Last week’s fact – In what year were the World Downhill Skiing Championships held in Crans-Montana?
A.
Not only home to a wide variety of Summer activities, Crans-Montana is probably most famous as a ski resort. It was in 1987 that the World Downhill Skiing Championships were held in Crans-Montana. More recently a Women’s World Cup event was held here in 2008, and, the Junior World Championships took place in Crans-Montana just this year!

There are over 40 different ski lifts that take people to areas above Crans-Montana where it is possible to ski. Some of these lifts even take you higher than 3000m; that’s 10,000 feet! There is a fantastic variety of slopes, which provide enthusiasts a real challenge and beginners with a safe environment to learn. Whether it is alpine skiing, cross-country, snowboarding or just ‘apres-ski’ there is something for everyone to enjoy!
