This week the focus of the blog is firmly on food and I am sure that your mouth is now watering having heard about all the different delights served up at camp! Switzerland is a country renowned for quality products and food is certainly no exception. The Swiss excel in chocolate making and most of us will have tried a bar of Swiss chocolate in our lifetimes; certainly it is the Swiss milk chocolate that is the most famous. You might have also tasted a bowl of Swiss muesli at breakfast too, another food that Switzerland has introduced!
However, Switzerland is also famous for hot dishes, which many of you will also have tried, especially if you have been to ISCM before. We want to know whether you know what the two traditional Swiss national hot dishes are?
We will reveal the answer to this week’s ‘Fascinating Fact’ in next week’s blog!
Last week’s fact – What do you call a ‘State’ in Switzerland and in which ‘State’ is Crans-Montana?
A.
In Switzerland, ‘States’ are named Cantons. Even in a relatively small country like Switzerland, incredibly there are 26 Cantons! Each of the Cantons has certain decision making powers over policy concerning their taxes, schooling, policing and many other elements too. Although this decision making power is separate from the main Government, all the Cantonal laws must fit within Switzerland’s constitutional law system! Crans-Montana is located in the Canton of Valais which joined the Swiss Confederation in 1815 after the Congress of Vienna.

My dear Scott,
Being Swiss I believe this to be a trick question because it truly depends on what canton you live in. But if we are thinking about camp I will think purely about camp food…my guesses…raclette and fondue? Hope you are well and your posts are awesome.
Much love,
Stephanie
